Three specific types of site clearing we do
A standard suburban back yard, a large rural block, and a commercial development lot require completely different machinery. Tell us what you have, and we will price it properly.
Residential blocks
Overgrown yards, new house blocks, and boundaries that have not been touched in years.
- Clearing before a build or a pool goes in
- Scrub and self seeded trees pulled out
- Fence lines opened back up
- Yards reclaimed after a rental
Rural acreage
Blocks out through Howard Springs, Humpty Doo and Virginia where the scrub gets away every wet.
- Fire break creation before the dry
- Block slashing and vegetation management
- Access tracks and boundary lines cut back
- Paddock and fence line clearing
Commercial and development
Lots that need to be clear and level so surveyors, builders and earthmovers can get moving.
- Commercial site clearing before earthworks
- Staged clearing to suit a build program
- Trees, roots and heavy vegetation removed
- Green waste off site, not stockpiled

What we clear, and how
Site clearing covers several specific jobs.
Most Darwin properties end up needing a combination of these to get the ground ready.
Fire break creation
We cut wide dirt breaks along property borders to slow a bushfire down and protect your assets. Real protection for rural acreage, cut before the dry season starts.
Vegetation management
Overgrown weeds, wild scrub and dense bushland cleared off rural properties. Keeps boundary lines, access tracks and open acreage usable across the Top End.
Commercial site clearing
Trees, heavy roots and thick vegetation off commercial lots before building starts. We clear the ground fast so builders, surveyors and machinery can begin earthworks on time.
Block slashing
Grass and light regrowth cut back on acreage and vacant blocks. The cheaper option when you want the block usable rather than bare.
Selective clearing
Not everything has to go. We can work around established shade trees and native vegetation while the scrub comes out.
Earthworks prep
Clearing staged so the site is ready for a surveyor, a pad or a slab. Green waste off site rather than pushed into a corner.
What changes your site clearing cost
We walk your block before giving you a number. Land clearing prices swing wildly because no two properties carry the exact same vegetation.
Here are the six main factors that decide your final cost.
-
Size of the area Priced by the block, not by the hour. A quarter acre yard and a ten acre paddock are different conversations.
-
How thick it is Light grass and regrowth slashes off quickly. Dense scrub with established trees through it takes far longer.
-
Tree size and count Mature trees have to come out properly rather than be pushed over, especially near boundaries.
-
Access and ground Can the machines get in and turn around? Wet ground, steep sections and tight gates all slow it down.
-
Where the waste goes Chipping and hauling off site costs more than mulching in place, but it leaves you a clean block.
-
Timing Dry season is cheaper and faster. Wet season clearing means bogged ground and more machine hours.
Tell us about the block
Send a few details and we will come out and walk it with you. No obligation, and the price is fixed in writing before anything starts.
Working to a build program? Tell us the date you need the site clear and we will work back from it.

Firebreaks and bushfire protection across the rural area
Out past the Darwin suburbs, the work changes completely. Fast growing scrub turns into dangerous fuel by August.
A freshly cut firebreak is the only difference between a grass fire stopping at your boundary line and it reaching your shed.
Firebreak maintenance in Howard Springs
Bush blocks backing onto reserve country need a clean break along the boundary every year, not just once. We cut new breaks and maintain existing ones before the fire season builds.
Firebreaks in Humpty Doo
Larger acreage with long boundaries and heavy scrub between paddocks and tracks. Breaks cut wide enough to actually work, plus block slashing to bring the fuel load down inside the fence.
Firebreak maintenance in Virginia NT
Rural residential blocks where the scrub creeps back over a single wet season. Regular vegetation management keeps access tracks open and boundaries clear year to year.
How we clear your block safely
-
Walk the block
We look at the vegetation, the access, the boundaries and the ground. You tell us what stays and what goes.
-
Check the rules
Approval requirements confirmed before anything starts, and lodged for you if a permit is needed.
-
Mark it out
Boundaries, services and any trees you are keeping get flagged, so nothing goes that should have stayed.
-
Clear and process
Trees down first, then scrub and undergrowth. Material is chipped or cut and loaded as we work across the block.
-
Clean and hand over
Green waste off site, ground left workable, and a walk of the block with you before we go.
Heavy machinery built for Top End blocks
We have spent over 15 years clearing Top End blocks. Coastal sand, black soil, and rural scrub all behave very differently once heavy machines sit on them.
The right machine
Compact gear for suburban yards and tight side access, bigger machinery for acreage and commercial lots.
We own our equipment rather than hiring it, so a booked start date holds.
Trained and ticketed crew
Ticketed operators, and arborists on site for anything that needs to come down carefully rather than be pushed over.
Insured to $20 million
We carry public liability coverage on every job. Ask to see the certificate any time. ABN 58 153 620 678.
More about the crew on our about page.
What you can legally clear in the Northern Territory
Vegetation rules are often much stricter than property owners expect, and they get heavier the bigger the block.
We check what applies to your address before we quote, so you are not the one wearing a fine.
Suburban blocks
Usually straightforward inside Darwin City Council and City of Palmerston areas, though protected and heritage listed trees still need approval.
Rural and larger blocks
Clearing native vegetation over a certain area needs a permit under NT planning rules. How much you are clearing matters more than any single tree.
What we do about it
We check the block, tell you what needs approval, and prepare the paperwork where one is required. If something cannot be cleared, you hear it before you pay us.
Where the green waste actually goes
Chipped on site
Scrub and branches go through the chipper as we work, which keeps the block clear and cuts the number of truck loads.
Mulched or hauled
On acreage we can spread the mulch back across the block. On a build site it all goes, because nobody wants to work around a pile.
Recycled, not dumped
Green waste goes for recycling rather than landfill, and usable timber is kept where there is any worth keeping.

What does land clearing cost in Darwin?
The honest answer is that it depends on the block, which is why we walk it first. We price every job on the size of the block, the thickness of the scrub, and whether we have to pull out established trees.
Because every site is completely different, we walk your property first and provide a free, fixed price quote.
It depends heavily on your zoning and block size. Removing native vegetation on rural blocks often triggers NT planning rules.
We check your exact address before we quote the job and handle the paperwork if you need approval.
Yes. We chip the scrub and branches as we go and haul the green waste off your site so builders can get straight to work.
On large rural blocks, we can spread the mulch back over the ground to save you money.
Absolutely. Selective clearing is incredibly popular.
We mark the mature shade trees and native vegetation you want to keep, and our operators carefully clear the overgrown scrub out from around them.
We can, but wet ground bogs down heavy machinery and makes the job take much longer.
For the cheapest and fastest result, we highly recommend booking your site clearing and firebreaks during the dry season.
